Job summary

Fraser Coast Regional Council is seeking two qualified Mechanics to join the Fleet team in Maryborough. This permanent full-time role involves performing mechanical maintenance and repairs across a diverse fleet of vehicles, trucks and heavy plant equipment, ensuring safety and reliability for community services.

You'll hold a Mechanical Tradesperson AQF Level III, a Queensland C Class licence and a White Card, with experience in fitting, welding and machining.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Mechanical Tradesperson (AQF Level III).
• Valid Queensland C Class Driver Licence.
• General Construction Induction (White Card).
• Experience maintaining and repairing plant, trucks and heavy equipment.
• Sound skills in fitting, welding and machining.
• Strong understanding of safety requirements and safe work practices.
• Ability to use work management systems to document service records.
• Excellent communication and teamwork, including supporting apprentices.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on Council vehicles, trucks and plant equipment.
• Diagnose faults and improve fleet performance and reliability.
• Carry out workshop and field servicing, repairs and inspections.
• Support work planning by ensuring parts, tools and resources are available.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using Council systems.
• Contribute to safe work practices and continuous improvement.
