Job summary

Cardinia Shire Council is seeking a qualified Mechanic to service, maintain and repair our fleet, plant and equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operation across community services. The role covers routine servicing, fault diagnosis and repairs on a diverse range of vehicles and machinery to support our crews.

This casual position offers a flexible pathway through to 31 March 2027 with casual loading and superannuation.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Motor Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic or relevant automotive/heavy vehicle qualification.
• Demonstrated experience servicing and repairing fleet vehicles, trucks, plant or heavy equipment.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills with the ability to work independently and efficiently.
• Sound knowledge of vehicle safety standards, maintenance practices and industry requirements.
• Commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing Council's fleet, plant and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Completing preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance across a diverse range of vehicles and machinery.
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs to minimise downtime and maximise asset availability.
• Ensuring all vehicles and equipment meet safety, compliance and operational standards before release.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and contributing to a safe, efficient workshop environment.
