Job summary

Fraser Coast Regional Council in Maryborough is seeking two qualified mechanics to join our Fleet team on a permanent full-time basis. You will perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on a diverse fleet of vehicles, trucks and heavy plant equipment, ensuring safety and reliability to support community services.

The total package includes a base salary of $81,577–$89,107, plus an annualised allowance of $4,052 and relocation assistance of $3,000.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Mechanical Tradesperson (AQF Level III).
• Valid Queensland C Class Driver Licence.
• General Construction Induction (White Card).
• Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing plant, trucks and heavy equipment.
• Sound skills in fitting, welding and machining.
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and safe work practices.
• Ability to use work management systems and technology to complete documentation and service records.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to support apprentices and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on Council vehicles, trucks and plant equipment.
• Diagnose faults and identify opportunities to improve fleet performance and reliability.
• Carry out workshop and field‑based servicing, repairs and inspections.
• Support work planning by ensuring parts, tools and resources are available when required.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, timesheets and service requests using Council systems.
• Contribute to safe work practices, continuous improvement initiatives and team outcomes.

What we are looking for:

An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified Mechanic to join Council's Fleet team. In this hands‑on role, you will deliver mechanical maintenance and repair services across a diverse fleet of vehicles, trucks and heavy plant equipment. Working alongside a skilled and supportive team, you will help ensure Council's fleet remains safe, reliable and available to support essential community services.

What’s nice to have:

• HR Driver Licence recognised in Queensland.
• Experience working with local government or large fleet operations.
• Diploma studies in Engineering or a related field
