Job summary

City of Adelaide is seeking a mechanic to maintain and repair its fleet in a climate-controlled workshop. You will work on a range of vehicles and plant, from utes to backhoes and electric vehicles, with provided tools and laundered uniforms.

The role offers a 9-day fortnight, starting salary of 83,737 AUD plus a 2.40 AUD per hour allowance and 12% superannuation, with overtime available. Income protection and journey insurance are provided at no cost. Applications close 1 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills, including liaising with others.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction, and in a collaborative team setting.
• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to change.
• Experience with Plant from Construction, Parks and Gardens, Cleansing Services would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a wide variety of Plant and Fleet, from utes and trucks to backhoes, mowers and street sweepers.
• Ensure the City of Adelaide fleet remains in safe, reliable working order.
• Contribute to safety, training and wellbeing within the workshop environment.

Please be advised this is a full time, permanent opportunity with a starting salary at the Metal - Mechanic Classification commencing at $83,737 + $2.40 per hour allowance for all ordinary hours worked + 12% superannuation. You will also be provided with income protection and journey insurance at no additional cost, in accordance with our enterprise agreement on top of a wide range of benefits.
