Job summary

Department of Education Victoria – Rosebud VIC seeks a classroom teacher to plan, prepare and teach programs for Years 7–12. You will contribute to school policy and uphold high expectations for student achievement within a cognitive science framework.

The role emphasises explicit instruction, data-informed practice and collaboration with colleagues, parents and the community to support student learning and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, incorporating literacy and numeracy, with capacity to respond to student learning needs.
• SC2: Experience planning/high impact teaching strategies guided by how students learn; assess impact on learning growth.
• SC3: Experience monitoring/assessing student learning; use data to inform teaching and feedback to students/parents.
• SC4: Interpersonal/communication skills; ability to collaborate with students, parents, colleagues and community.
• SC5: Behaviours aligned with Department values; engage in ongoing professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Direct teaching of groups and individuals; contribute to curriculum planning and evaluation.
• Undertake other duties as determined by school priorities and staff requirements.
• Increase knowledge base of staff about student learning and high-quality instruction.
• Model exemplary classroom practice and mentor other teachers; provide expert advice on content and strategies.
• Supervise/train student teachers and use data to inform teaching approaches.
