Job summary

WesTrac Tomago is seeking a skilled Machinist to work on precision, non-production machining of CAT components in a modern workshop near Newcastle. This is a permanent, long-term role with a strong pipeline of work and paid training, with you at home every night and no FIFO.

The position offers a 48-hour week, an early finish on Fridays, and a rotating roster including days and nights. You will read drawings and work to tight tolerances in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Machinist (Cert III Mechanical Engineering).
• Strong experience in manual and CNC machining.
• Confident reading drawings and working to tolerances.
• Safety-focused, reliable, and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Manual & CNC machining of CAT components.
• Lathes, mills, borers, grinding & surface finishing.
• Working to tight tolerances and engineering drawings.
• Repair and rebuild work on large-scale mining equipment.
