Job summary

The University of Tasmania seeks a Systems Manager, Simulations to oversee and advance the Centre for Maritime Simulations technology stack. You will ensure reliable operation of Linux/Windows environments, networks, servers and specialised maritime simulation software, supporting teaching, research and industry training.

Working within a highly specialised maritime setting, you’ll develop procedures, documentation and governance while collaborating with staff, partners and vendors to maximise

Qualifications

• Experience administering Linux and Windows in complex technical environments.
• Experience managing servers, storage, networking and virtualised infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for hardware/software systems.
• Experience supporting mission-critical environments where reliability and availability are essential.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and resolve complex technical issues.
• Experience evaluating, implementing or supporting emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise the technology powering maritime simulation facilities.
• Administer and support Linux, Windows, virtualised and networked systems.
• Prepare, configure and troubleshoot simulation environments supporting teaching, research and industry training.
• Drive governance through documentation, QA and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with staff, students, industry clients and vendors to deliver high-performing simulation services.
