Job summary

Transport for NSW is seeking a policy professional to develop and align workforce policies across agencies. You will engage with a broad range of stakeholders to drive policy improvements and resolve issues, while providing expert guidance on escalated policy projects.

In this role, you'll:

Reporting to the Senior Manager Workforce Policy, you will be responsible for developing and aligning workforce policies and procedures across the agencies to ensure they support business objectives and are consistent with government policy, legislative and industrial requirements.

You’ll work closely with a wide range of stakeholders to make policy improvements and to resolve issues and impediments to simplifying provisions across the agencies.

You’ll provide subject matter expertise on escalated policy issues and priority projects.

This permanent position is located in our Elizabeth Street office in Sydney CBD. The role is governed by our hybrid working model, which forms part of the organisation’s Flexible Working Arrangements and associated procedures. This includes a combination of required onsite attendance and approved remote working.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience in driving the development of workforce policy options and strategies to successful completion.

You have proven ability to align and translate business requirements into business and operational outcomes.

You demonstrate a high level of innovative, analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving ability.

You’re a passionate individual who has a strong policy background with a corporate or internal policy focus. You possess people leadership skills with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively and facilitate engagement and consultation with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels.

You demonstrate excellent writing skills, strong attention to detail, and experience interpreting legislation and industrial instruments. You enjoy undertaking research and extensive analysis to develop quality policy documents. You are confident presenting your recommendations and respond appropriately when challenged.

You have experience developing and maintaining strong collaborative working relationships to meet stakeholders’ expectations and are comfortable in a fast-paced and dynamic environment where delivery on tight deadlines is critical.
