Job summary

Walcha Council in New South Wales seeks a senior manager to take the strategic lead of water, waste and urban services. You will report to the Director of Infrastructure & Development, guiding three coordinators and shaping the council’s asset management and forward plans.

You will develop long-term refurbishment strategies, prepare business cases and statutory reports, and oversee budgets, contracts and tenders for capital works.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in civil/environmental engineering, environmental science, or related discipline.
• Experience managing water, wastewater and/or waste services.
• Qualifications in Project Management, Leadership or Asset Management valued.
• Knowledge of environmental legislation relating to waste and water supply.
• Hands-on leader who remains level under public scrutiny and makes sound calls.

Job description

Take Walcha's water, waste and urban services from reactive to strategic, and build the plans that shape the community's future. Report directly to the Director of Infrastructure & Development, lead three coordinators, and build the asset management and forward planning the function has never had.

Skills & Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in civil/environmental engineering, environmental science, or related discipline
• Experience managing water, wastewater and/or waste services
• Highly valued: Qualifications in Project Management, Leadership or Asset Management
• Knowledge of environmental legislation relating to waste and water supply
• Hands‑on leader who stays composed under public scrutiny and makes sound calls
• Competitive salary starting from circa $120,000 plus 12% superannuation and allowances
