Job summary

Walcha Council is seeking a strategic leader to take water, waste and urban services from reactive to proactive planning. You will report to the Director of Infrastructure & Development and lead three coordinators to shape the community's future.

You will develop long-term asset management and refurbishment plans, prepare statutory reports and business cases, and manage budgets, contracts and tenders for maintenance and capital works.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in civil/environmental engineering or related discipline.
• Experience managing water, wastewater and/or waste services.
• Qualifications in Project Management, Leadership or Asset Management are highly valued.
• Knowledge of environmental legislation relating to waste and water supply.
• Hands-on leader who remains composed under public scrutiny.

About the Role

Take Walcha's water, waste and urban services from reactive to strategic, and build the plans that shape the community's future. Report directly to the Director of Infrastructure & Development, lead three coordinators, and build the asset management and forward planning the function has never had.

• Represent Council on infrastructure matters with the Director, GM and Councillors

Skills & Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in civil/environmental engineering, environmental science, or related discipline
• Experience managing water, wastewater and/or waste services
• Highly valued: Qualifications in Project Management, Leadership or Asset Management
• Knowledge of environmental legislation relating to waste and water supply
• Hands‑on leader who stays composed under public scrutiny and makes sound calls
