Job summary

The Shire of Exmouth is seeking a capable leader to become Manager Development Services, overseeing Environmental Health, Town Planning and Building Services in Exmouth. You will report to the CEO, provide strategic direction, lead a multidisciplinary team, manage budgets and drive service improvements while delivering community-focused outcomes for the regional town.

Experience in WA local government and environmental health or planning will be highly regarded.

The Shire of Exmouth is seeking a motivated and capable professional to lead its Development Services team, overseeing Environmental Health, Town Planning and Building Services - based in Exmouth.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will provide leadership, coordination and strategic direction across the Shire’s Development Services functions. We welcome applicants with experience in one or more relevant disciplines and the capability and motivation to lead a broader service portfolio.

About the Role

As Manager Development Services, you will:

Lead and coordinate the Shire’s Environmental Health, Town Planning and Building Services functions.

Oversee service delivery, development approvals and regulatory compliance in collaboration with specialist staff.

Provide clear, practical and strategic advice to the CEO and Council on development services matters.

Support and develop a multidisciplinary team, promoting collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.

Manage priorities, budgets and resources to deliver effective and responsive services.

Work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve sustainable, community-focused outcomes.

About You

You’re a motivated professional with experience in planning, building, environmental health or regulatory services, ready to bring your skills to a broader leadership role.

Whether you’re stepping into management or bringing established leadership experience, you’ll have sound judgement, strong people skills and a practical, collaborative approach to delivering community outcomes.

Relevant qualifications, regional local government experience and an approved qualification for appointment as an Environmental Health Officer in Western Australia will be highly regarded.

What We Offer

An attractive remuneration package of $108,538–$120,986 per annum, plus up to 22% superannuation, comprising:

Base salary of $90,936–$103,384, depending on skills and experience

Location allowance of $2,002 per annum

Housing allowance of $15,600 per annum, or alternatively, subsidised housing

Relocation assistance

Additional benefits include:
