The Role

As a key leader in the Asset Delivery & Care team, you'll drive the success of our Reliability programs while empowering a high-performing team of Contract and Project Managers.

You'll lead with a hands-on, supportive approach - removing roadblocks, responding quickly and balancing when to step in or step back, trusting in your team's expertise. Your focus will be on building trust, staying connected and enabling delivery without losing sight of outcomes.

You'll oversee the smooth delivery of planned, preventative and corrective maintenance across our civil (water & sewer) asset base. From sourcing strategies to contract mobilisation and demobilisation, you'll guide complex commercial contracts that drive long-term value.

About us

We're on a mission to create a brighter future, where you can be a change maker at the actual source. We're one of Australia's largest water utilities with over 30% of Victoria's population relying on us for their essential water and sanitation services.

Our award-winning culture fosters an inclusive, collaborative, and flexible environment that enables our people to thrive. Here, you'll be inspired and challenged to grow alongside us.

We're committed to reconciliation and supporting the self-determined role for Traditional Owners/Custodians in water and land management.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team with a clear annual plan.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts and business cases to ensure sound financial performance.
  • Champion safety, quality and environmental compliance in partnership with relevant teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement in customer service, business outcomes and innovation initiatives.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal teams, partners, suppliers and external stakeholders.
  • Influence and lead service improvement initiatives that enhance customer, community, environmental and business outcomes.
  • Oversee governance and performance reporting for contracts within your remit.
  • Ensure legislative, regulatory and risk compliance across all activities.
  • Manage resource planning, CAPEX/OPEX budgets and drive productivity and efficiency initiatives.
  • Lead performance reporting on financial, environmental, customer satisfaction and service delivery metrics.
  • Support pricing submission development and enable accurate field data collection by contract partners.
  • Manage contract performance against key service commitments and prepare annual business cases.
  • Identify and mitigate environmental, financial and supply chain risks to maintain service continuity.

What we're looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Science, or related field
  • Proven experience in people leadership, procurement and contract management.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and stakeholder management - with ability to influence senior leaders and external partners.
  • Proven ability to build trust, foster team connection and lead with empathy while maintaining delivery focus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas.
  • Experience leading safe work practices with sound knowledge of OH&S, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Background in asset management and water network operations.
  • Track record in project delivery, contract management and maintenance services.
  • Water industry experience and managing maintenance contracts - highly regarded
