Job summary

Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety – Cairns QLD is seeking a Manager to lead the Placement Services Unit, overseeing staff and resources to deliver high quality child protection services across the region.

You will allocate tasks, develop partnerships with stakeholders, and drive service delivery excellence, ensuring compliance with legislation and departmental policies while supporting regional management.

Responsibilities

• Manage staff, physical and financial resources of the Placement Services Unit in accordance with the department's service delivery framework including relevant legislation, strategic objectives, policies and contemporary best practice standards.
• Allocate, prioritise and perform work tasks in accordance with departmental procedures and statutory, financial and administrative delegations.
• Provide leadership and management in the delivery of high quality child protection services including the development of appropriate service responses to meet the identified needs of clients including children, young people, families, carers, the community and the public and non-government sectors.
• Actively participate in and, where appropriate, lead local area forums with government and non-government stakeholders, promoting a positive and accountable public image and the development of productive partnerships to support service delivery outcomes.
• Develop enduring service delivery partnerships to enhance cross-sectoral participation, training and development, and the delivery and co-ordination of local child protection services.
• Foster a culture and philosophy of frontline service delivery, cooperation, team work, high quality people management, commitment to excellence and a professional ethic which ensures the Placement Services and Support Unit continues to meet the department's priorities.
• Provide proactive high level support, advice and information to regional management in relation to child protection service outcomes, development of service delivery and improvement strategies, staff training and support strategies and performance agreements.
• Enhance the local regional community by actively practicing and promoting excellence in service delivery and public administration and identifying opportunities for improving regional client service.
