Qualifications

• Minimum AAT qualification or finalist studying towards ACCA.
• Strong understanding of management accounting principles and month-end processes.
• Experience with P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
• Ability to analyse financial data and provide insights for decisions.
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software.

Responsabilités

• Manage key month-end activities: journals, reconciliations, P&L reporting, and financial commentary across multiple operating companies.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, KPI reports and financial analysis to support informed decisions.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities, including margin and profitability analysis.
• Review loss-making customers and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
• Support supplier invoice reconciliations and payment runs and provide ad hoc reporting to senior finance stakeholders.

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: Up to £40,000, depending on experience
Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm (40 hours per week)

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Management Accountant to support accurate financial reporting, insightful analysis and effective financial control within a growing business.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys working collaboratively with stakeholders, analysing financial performance and using financial data to support business decisions.

You will play a key role in the month-end process, preparation of management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, and identifying opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency. You will also provide meaningful financial insights to support strategic decision-making across the business.

The ideal candidate will be analytical, organised and confident working in a fast-paced environment, with a strong commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage key month-end activities, including journals, balance sheet reconciliations, profit and loss reporting, and financial commentary across multiple operating companies.
• Support monthly supplier invoice reconciliations, resolve discrepancies, elevate issues where necessary and identify opportunities to improve processes.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, KPI reports and financial analysis to support informed business decisions.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities, including margin and profitability analysis.
• Review loss-making customers and identify opportunities to improve financial performance.
• Manage supplier account queries and support payment runs, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and efficiently.
• Present monthly financial results and provide ad hoc reporting and analysis to senior finance stakeholders.
• Work closely with colleagues across departments to support effective financial management and business performance.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A minimum AAT qualification or be a finalist studying towards ACCA.
• A strong understanding of management accounting principles, financial reporting and month-end processes.
• Demonstrable knowledge of profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
• The ability to analyse financial data, identify trends and provide insights to support decision-making.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using financial systems and accounting software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly.
• A proactive, positive and approachable attitude, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and meet deadlines.
• A flexible approach and willingness to support the wider finance function as required.
