Empower Living Pty Ltd in Goulburn, NSW, is seeking a Male Disability Support Worker – Complex Mental Health on a casual basis. You will provide person-centred support to clients with complex needs, assist with daily living activities and promote independence in the community.

The role offers flexible casual scheduling and opportunities to work with a multidisciplinary team. Required are experience with complex mental health conditions or disability support, trauma-informed care knowledge,

Qualifications

• Experience supporting adults with complex mental health conditions in a clinical or community setting.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and strength-based approaches.
• Ability to communicate clearly with clients, families and professionals.
• Capacity to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred disability support to clients with complex mental health conditions, ensuring dignity and independence.
• Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, household tasks, meal preparation and hygiene support.
• Offer emotional support, active listening and companionship while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Support clients in accessing community activities and social engagements.
• Monitor wellbeing and report health concerns and behavioural changes to management and healthcare professionals.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mental health specialists, social workers and family members.
• Respond to crisis situations with de-escalation techniques and appropriate protocols.
• Maintain accurate client records in line with policies and regulations.
• Contribute to development of individualised support plans based on goals and needs.
• Promote a safe, inclusive environment for all clients.

Male Disability Support Worker – Complex Mental Health

We are seeking a Male Disability Support Worker – Complex Mental Health to join Empower Living Pty Ltd on a casual basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide specialised support to individuals with complex mental health needs and disabilities in the Goulburn, NSW area. This role is integral to our mission of empowering individuals to live fulfilling, independent lives. Your work will directly impact the wellbeing, safety and quality of life of vulnerable members of our community. This position offers flexibility through casual work arrangements, allowing you to balance this role with other commitments.

Key responsibilities

Provide person-centred disability support to clients with complex mental health conditions, ensuring their dignity and independence are maintained at all times

Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, household tasks, meal preparation and hygiene support as required

Offer emotional support, active listening and companionship to clients whilst maintaining professional boundaries

Support clients in accessing community activities, social engagements and recreational opportunities that promote social inclusion

Monitor and report on client wellbeing, health concerns and behavioural changes to management and relevant healthcare professionals

Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including mental health specialists, social workers and family members

Respond to crisis situations with composure and follow appropriate protocols and de-escalation techniques

Maintain detailed and accurate client records and documentation in accordance with organisational policies and legislative requirements

Contribute to the development and implementation of individualised support plans based on client goals and needs

Promote a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for all clients

What we're looking for

Experience working with individuals with complex mental health conditions and/or disability support in a professional capacity

Knowledge of mental health awareness, trauma-informed care and strength-based approaches to support

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, colleagues and external service providers

Strong interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with vulnerable individuals

Capacity to work independently whilst remaining part of a collaborative team environment

Physical fitness and capability to assist clients with mobility and personal care tasks as required

First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification

Current Working with Children and Vulnerable Persons checks or ability to obtain these

A valid drivers' licence and reliable transport (desirable)

A commitment to person-centred practice, privacy, dignity and safeguarding principles
