Job summary

Life Without Barriers is seeking a compassionate Disability Support Worker for casual, part-time shifts in Port Macquarie and the Mid North Coast. You will provide person-centred support to people living with disability, helping with daily living tasks and community participation.

Key requirements include a NSW driver’s licence, ability to work sleepovers, First Aid HLTAID003/011, and clear probity checks. Pay starts from $45.28 per hour (casual) under SCHADS Award.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted NSW driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Current First Aid certificate HLTAID003 or HLTAID011.
• Willingness to complete probity checks required for NDIS work.

Responsibilities

About the Role

As a Disability Support Worker, you will be providing person-centred active support to people living with disability. Supported Independent Living (SIL) is supporting people with disability in shared housing or in their own home, providing various supports including personal care and daily living assistance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide behavioural support and follow behaviour management plans
• Full personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming
• Medication assistance
• Safe wheelchair transfers and transportation
• Engage in client interests such as listening to music – big tick if you love ACDC!
• Creative activities such as puzzles and art
• Promote client choice and independence in all interactions
• Sleepover availability required

Skills & Experience

• Ability to drive a large van for client transportation
• An unrestricted New South Wales driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
• Demonstrated ability to use basic technology and software on a mobile and desktop
• A current First Aid Certificate, which includes the course HLTAID003 or HLTAID011
• Successful candidates will be required to clear all state-based probity checks; including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.
• Pay rates starting from $ 45.28 (casual) as per the SCHADS Award
