Job summary

Activity Care Services is urgently recruiting male Disability Support Workers to provide community access support in Daisy Hill and Sunnybank, QLD. You will assist participants living with schizophrenia, psychosocial disabilities and complex mental health needs, helping them attend appointments, engage in activities and build social connections.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supporting participants with schizophrenia, psychosocial disabilities and behaviours of concern.
• Ability to manage verbal aggression and implement de-escalation strategies.
• Commitment to professional boundaries and person-centred support.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, reliable and person-centred community access support.
• Assist participants with attending appointments, recreational activities and community outings.
• Support individuals living with schizophrenia, psychosocial disabilities and complex behavioural needs.
• Implement Positive Behaviour Support strategies in accordance with individual Behaviour Support Plans.
• Recognise behaviours of concern and respond using de-escalation techniques.
• Maintain professional boundaries and respectful communication.
• Promote independence, choice, dignity and social inclusion.
• Support participants to establish and maintain meaningful community routines.
• Follow organisational policies regarding participant expenses and financial boundaries.
• Complete accurate shift notes, incident reports and relevant documentation.
• Work collaboratively with management, families and allied health professionals.
