Job summary

Cardinal Care Support Services in Queensland is seeking a compassionate Disability Support Worker to join our team across Logan and the Gold Coast. This casual role focuses on person-centred support, daily living tasks, and community participation.

Experience in mental health support is highly beneficial. You will work with service users, families and our team to promote dignity, safety, and independence, while keeping accurate records and following care plans.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Disability Support or equivalent, or willingness to train
• Experience supporting individuals with disabilities
• Mental health support experience (highly desirable)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Empathy, patience, and commitment to person-centred care

Responsibilities

• Daily living support — assisting with personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks
• Community participation — supporting service users to engage in social and recreational activities
• Emotional support — providing companionship, especially for individuals with mental health needs
• Goal development — helping service users build independence and achieve personal goals
• Record keeping — maintaining accurate notes on support provided and progress
• Communication — collaborating with service users, families, and the wider support team
• Following support plans — adapting approaches to meet diverse and individualised needs
• Promoting dignity — ensuring respectful, person‑centred interactions
• Responding to concerns — identifying changes in wellbeing and escalating appropriately
• Creating safe environments — contributing to an inclusive and supportive setting
