Job description

Morr Constructions Pty Ltd – Port Macquarie NSW

Build and lead a major projects division within an established and growing construction business.

Morr Homes & Projects is seeking an experienced, commercially minded Major Projects Manager to develop and lead our expanding major projects portfolio.

This is an opportunity for an ambitious construction professional to take ownership of a growing division, identify and secure new opportunities, develop long-term client relationships and oversee significant residential construction projects from concept through to completion.

You'll have the autonomy to influence the division's growth, backed by an established construction business with experienced teams, proven systems and the resources to deliver.

About Morr

Morr Homes & Projects is an established residential construction company based in Port Macquarie, delivering projects throughout the Mid North Coast and surrounding regions.

Recognised among Australia's HIA Housing 100 builders, Morr continues to grow through a reputation for quality, reliability and long-term client relationships.

As part of our continued expansion, we are developing a dedicated Major Projects division focused on larger residential developments, manufactured housing estates and retirement living communities.

We're looking for the right person to help build this next stage of our business.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will take responsibility for developing and managing Morr's major projects portfolio, generally involving projects valued at $5 million and above.

You will oversee projects from initial opportunity identification and feasibility through tendering, contract negotiation, construction and commercial close-out.

Importantly, you won't be expected to manage every aspect of construction yourself. You'll work alongside our established estimating, design, administration and construction teams, coordinating the resources needed to deliver successful outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Identifying and developing new construction opportunities with developers, project owners and industry partners.
  • Building strong, ongoing client and consultant relationships.
  • Leading project feasibility, tenders, proposals and contract negotiations.
  • Taking commercial ownership of major projects, including budgets, forecasting, variations, risk and profitability.
  • Coordinating internal teams across design, estimating, approvals, administration and construction.
  • Working closely with the Construction Manager to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with agreed scope, quality, programme and budget.
  • Providing professional client communication, project reporting and commercial oversight.
  • Developing repeat business opportunities and a sustainable pipeline of major projects.
  • Helping shape the division's systems, processes and future team structure as the portfolio grows.
About you

We're interested in speaking with experienced construction professionals who combine strong commercial judgement with the ability to build relationships and lead complex projects.

You may currently be a Senior Project Manager, Development Manager, Construction Manager or Business Unit Manager looking for greater ownership and career progression.

Ideally, you'll bring:
  • Demonstrated experience managing substantial residential or related construction projects.
  • Strong commercial understanding of construction contracts, project budgets, programmes and profitability.
  • Confidence in dealing with developers, consultants, clients and senior stakeholders.
  • The ability to identify opportunities and develop long‑term commercial relationships.
  • Proven leadership and coordination skills across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • A proactive, commercially focused approach to problem‑solving and decision‑making.
  • The drive to take ownership of a developing business division and contribute to its long‑term success.
  • Experience in multi‑dwelling residential developments, manufactured housing estates, retirement living or developer‑led construction projects will be highly regarded.
  • While previous business development experience is advantageous, we're equally interested in commercially capable project leaders who have the initiative and relationship skills to grow into this responsibility.
An opportunity to build something significant.

This isn't simply another project management position. It's an opportunity to take ownership of a growing division and play an important role in the next stage of Morr's development.

You’ll benefit from:
  • Real ownership: Influence the projects we pursue, the relationships we develop and how the division grows.
  • Established support: Work with experienced estimating, design, administration and construction teams.
  • Interesting projects: Lead larger and more complex residential developments, manufactured housing estates and retirement living projects.
  • Career progression: Opportunity to build a dedicated team and grow your leadership responsibilities as the division expands.
  • Long‑term opportunity: Join an established, growing regional builder focused on quality, commercial performance and repeat business.

All applications will be treated confidentially.
