Job summary

Beerenberg Pty Ltd in Hahndorf is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician (Mechanical) to keep our jam-producing plant running safely and efficiently. You'll respond to breakdowns, perform preventative maintenance, and work across pumps, conveyors, gearboxes and other production equipment.

You’ll hold a Mechanical Trade qualification and enjoy four-day/40-hour weeks with a rotating Monday/Friday RDO, plus experience in a food-manufacturing environment is highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Hold a Mechanical Trade qualification (Fitter & Turner, Mechanical Fitter or similar).
• Are looking for work-life balance with a twist? Enjoy full-time hours across four days, with a rotating Monday/Friday RDO and a mix of early, afternoon and late shifts to keep production rolling.
• Have hands-on maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment (food production experience highly regarded).
• Have strong fault-finding and breakdown maintenance skills across mechanical plant and equipment.
• Are confident working with pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics, hydraulics and other production machinery.
• Have welding and fabrication skills, or experience carrying out plant modifications and equipment improvements.
• Are familiar with CMMS and preventative maintenance systems.
• Understand HACCP, GMP and food safety requirements and always prioritise safe work practices.
• Are practical, solutions-focused and remain calm under pressure when production equipment needs attention.
• Are a collaborative self-starter who communicates well and enjoys working as part of a close-knit team.
• Love all things food, flavour and Beerenberg goodness.

Responsibilities

• Respond to breakdowns across production machinery, plant and equipment with speed and precision.
• Troubleshoot mechanical faults and support production to minimise disruptions and maximise efficiency.
• Carry out preventative maintenance, repairs and servicing across mechanical equipment.
• Conduct risk assessments; implement lock out/tag out procedures; ensure safety and compliance.
• Carry out repairs, fabrication, welding, plant upgrades, installations and shutdown projects.
• Maintain maintenance records and support QA/HACCP requirements.

We're on the lookout for a full-time Maintenance Technician (Mechanical) who's as committed to keeping things running smoothly as we are to creating iconic flavour (yes, including our famous strawberry jam). As part of our Maintenance team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety and efficiency of our plant, equipment and infrastructure at our family farm in Hahndorf.
