Job summary

Beerenberg Pty Ltd in Hahndorf, SA, is seeking a Maintenance Technician (Mechanical) to keep our production plant running smoothly in a family farm setting. You will respond to breakdowns, perform preventative maintenance and support continuous improvement across mechanical systems.

The role requires a Mechanical Trade qualification and hands-on experience in manufacturing, with a focus on safety, CMMS, and HACCP/GMP compliance.

Qualifications

• Hold a Mechanical Trade qualification (Fitter & Turner, Mechanical Fitter or similar).
• Full-time hours across four days with rotating Monday/Friday RDO and a mix of early, afternoon and late shifts.
• Hands-on maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment (food production experience highly regarded).
• Strong fault-finding and breakdown maintenance skills across mechanical plant and equipment.
• Confident working with pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics, hydraulics and other production machinery.
• Welding and fabrication skills, or experience carrying out plant modifications and equipment improvements.
• Familiar with CMMS and preventative maintenance systems.
• Understand HACCP, GMP and food safety requirements and always prioritise safe work practices.
• Practical, solutions-focused and remain calm under pressure when production equipment needs attention.
• Collaborative self-starter who communicates well and enjoys working as part of a close-knit team.
• Love all things food, flavour and Beerenberg goodness.

Responsibilities

• Respond to breakdowns across production machinery, plant and equipment with speed and precision.
• Troubleshooting mechanical faults and supporting production to minimise disruptions and maximise efficiency.
• Carry out preventative maintenance, repairs and servicing across a diverse range of mechanical equipment.
• Conduct risk assessments, mastering lock out/tag out procedures and helping ensure our equipment and work practices remain safe and compliant.
• tackle repairs, fabrication, welding, plant upgrades, equipment installations and shutdown projects.
• Support QA and HACCP requirements, maintaining accurate maintenance records and ensuring equipment performs to the highest standards.
• Identify ways to improve reliability, efficiency and maintenance practices while helping keep production moving.

We're on the lookout for a full-time Maintenance Technician (Mechanical) who's as committed to keeping things running smoothly as we are to creating iconic flavour (yes, including our famous strawberry jam). As part of our Maintenance team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety and efficiency of our plant, equipment and infrastructure at our family farm in Hahndorf.
