Job summary

NewCold is seeking a mid-senior Maintenance Technician to join our Melbourne team. The role focuses on electrical and mechanical systems across state‑of‑the‑art automated facilities, with a focus on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

You will carry out planned, predictive, and reactive maintenance, collaborate with Technicians and Operators, and contribute to uptime and service delivery in a fast-moving cold storage environment.

• Analytical skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Technical expert with hands-on experience in industrial equipment.
• Computer competency for diagnostics and maintenance planning.

Responsibilities

• Ensure electrical and mechanical systems operate to support customer service KPIs
• Carry out planned, predictive and reactive maintenance
• Maintain a safe working environment
• Perform preventive maintenance as determined by the equipment manufacturer
• Respond to breakdowns to minimise downtime
• Liaise with Planner and Operations to assess impact on customers
• Maintain records of preventive maintenance tasks and report variations vs. plan
• Advise management on options to resolve breakdown conditions

We're seeking a mid-senior level Maintenance Technician. Applicants who are Qualified Grade A Electricians, Qualified Fitters & Turners with Disconnect/Reconnect, or multi‑skilled across both trades are encouraged to apply, especially those with strong industrial experience.

Roster: Permanent Shift. Days: Friday to Monday. Hours: 6:00am to 4:00pm approximately (Average hours: 38 hours per week). Hourly Rate: $52.66 - $57.34 gross per hour, depending on skills and experience.

Rates shown do not include applicable allowances payable under the EBA.

Located in the west of Melbourne, our team is dedicated to delivering food safety by efficiently resolving issues and thinking outside the box to troubleshoot while maintaining a safe working environment. This role offers the chance to work with a variety of equipment in different applications, allowing you to expand your skillset on state‑of‑the‑art technology. You will collaborate with Technicians and Operators to ensure maximum performance and availability of our automated facilities and systems.

Your role as a Maintenance Technician

• To ensure electrical and mechanical systems operate, in order to support customer service KPI's
• Carry out planned, predictive and reactive maintenance
• Maintain a safe working environment
• Perform preventive maintenance program as determined by the manufacturer's equipment
• Respond efficiently to breakdown conditions so as to minimise equipment downtime
• Liaise with the Planner and Operations team to identify the impact of breakdown events on Customers
• Maintain records of preventive maintenance tasks completed and report any variations vs. plan
• Under breakdown conditions that are, or are likely to affect Customer Service, to advise management of options to resolve.
