Job summary

Costa House in Lara, Victoria, seeks a Maintenance Services Assistant to join a not-for-profit aged care facility. You will perform general maintenance and keep the community safe and welcoming for residents and staff.

This full-time role focuses on practical, hands-on tasks, preventive maintenance, and timely responses to repair needs within a 120-bed home set on 65 acres. Join a supportive team delivering high-quality care.

Qualifications

  • Practical experience in general maintenance or a similar hands-on role.
  • Skilled in building maintenance and repairs.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and respond to urgent tasks; good understanding of Workplace Health & Safety.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out general repairs and maintenance, keeping the facility running smoothly.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to ensure buildings, equipment, and systems are safe, reliable, and well maintained.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests, troubleshoot issues, and prioritise urgent repairs to support residents and staff.
  • Assist when needed to maintain outdoor areas and grounds, ensuring gardens, pathways, and external spaces are safe, tidy, and welcoming.
  • Monitor the overall condition of the facility, report hazards or larger repairs, maintain tools and records, and contribute to a safe working environment.

Working Monday to Friday, you’ll play an important role in helping keep our community running smoothly and ensuring our residents enjoy a safe, comfortable and well-maintained environment.

In this role, you’ll assist with the general maintenance of buildings, equipment and outdoor areas, as well as responding to day-to-day maintenance needs around the community.

We’re looking for someone withpractical, hands-on experience rather than formal trade qualifications. This is not a specialist trade position, but a role suited to someone who is practical, proactive, reliable and takes pride in their work.

No two days are the same! As Maintenance Services Assistant you will:
  • Carry out general repairs and maintenance, keeping the facility running smoothly.

About You

You’ll thrive with us if you have:

  • Practical experience in general maintenance or a similar hands-on role
  • Skilled in building maintenance and repairs
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and respond to urgent tasksSound understanding of Workplace Health & Safety requirements and safe work practices
  • Current driver’s licence
  • National Police Check & NDIS workers screening clearance (and relevant sector clearances as required)
  • Strong communication skills and a respectful, professional manner
