Job summary

YHA Australia is seeking a hands-on maintenance professional to support YHA Sydney Central’s facilities and guest spaces in Sydney. You’ll perform regular inspections, coordinate with the Property Manager on works, and ensure safety and cleanliness standards are met.

You’ll maintain the pool and keep accurate records, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and the ability to work independently where needed. The role suits someone with practical maintenance experience and a commitment to guest

YHA Sydney Central YHA Sydney Central is located the heart of the city centre and close to all the action. This award-winning hostel, with indoor pool offers guests panoramic views of the city from the rooftop outdoor area. YHA Sydney Central offers shared dormitory accommodation as well as private rooms. The property has two commercial kitchens, spacious dining rooms, an underground bar, cinema room, cafe and lounge areas and a guest laundry.

What you'll get to do

Performing thorough weekly building and facility inspections (or daily inspections as requested)

Liaising with the Property Manager or Building & Facilities Manager to conduct project works, preventative maintenance, and corrective maintenance

Maintaining the swimming pool, including testing and dosing chemical levels (where applicable)

Completing and maintaining inspection, safety, and maintenance reports and records

This will suit someone with experience in maintenance, facilities, retail or commercial property management style environments. You'll have a broad handyperson (handyman / handywoman) / maintenance knowledge and skill set, with the ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team. The person in this role will be on their feet most of the day so physical fitness is a must!
