Job summary

Calvary Health Care in Launceston is seeking a proactive Maintenance Officer to keep our facilities safe, well-maintained and welcoming for residents. You will handle upkeep, repairs and planned maintenance across the home, supporting a high-quality aged care environment.

This role involves gardening, logging maintenance tasks, coordinating contractors, ordering stock, and acting quickly on hazards, with a strong emphasis on WH&S and resident-focused service.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Maintenance/Gardening role.
• Commitment to continuous quality improvement.
• Working knowledge of WH&S and Infection Control.
• Demonstrated commitment to customer focused services.
• Driver's licence (Class)
• Experience in aged care settings (retirement village/independent living).
• Trade qualifications and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Attend to general maintenance tasks including gardening as required.
• Check maintenance logs and prioritise tasks, coordinate contractors.
• Plan and schedule maintenance across the home under the Home Manager.
• Order and store stock as required.
• Ensure timely action of hazards, incidents and other maintenance events.

About The Role

The Maintenance Officer will play a critical role in ensuring that our facilities are safe, well-maintained, and contribute to the well-being of our residents. As a Maintenance Officer, you will be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of our facility, creating a comfortable and safe environment for our residents.

Your main duties will include:

• Attend to general maintenance tasks as directed including gardening as required.
• Checking maintenance logs and prioritising tasks, coordinating contractors to attend as required.
• Under the guidance of the Home Manager, plan and schedule maintenance across the home
• Ordering and storing of stock as required.
• Ensure the timely action of hazards, incidents and other events that involve the maintenance function.

About You

• Experience in Maintenance/Gardening role
• Commitment to continuous quality improvement
• Working Knowledge of WH&S and Infection Control
• Demonstrated commitment to customer focused services
• Drivers licence Class
• Previous experience and understanding of aged care including retirement village/ independent living setting
• Trade qualifications and/or experience
