Job summary

Modus Projects is seeking a Maintenance HVAC & Refrigeration Technician to service client facilities in Geelong. The role involves preventative and reactive maintenance on heating, ventilation, cooling and refrigeration systems, with on-site work and after-hours availability.

Applicants should hold a Refrigeration Mechanical HVAC trade qualification, a valid driver’s license, police check, and First Aid/White Card. 3–5 years’ experience in large-scale commercial environments is preferred.

Qualifications

• HVAC trade qualification required.
• Valid Driver's License and Police Check.
• First Aid Certificate and White Card.
• 3–5 years of HVAC & Refrigeration experience in commercial facilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance on generators, switchboards & air-conditioning systems (Chillers, AHUs, CRAC units, FCUs).
• Assemble, install, test and maintain heating, cooling and refrigeration equipment using hand/power tools.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical defects and malfunctions.
• Undertake equipment inspections as part of preventative maintenance plans.
• Inspect and maintain refrigerators and chilled water systems as required.
• Ventilate equipment and controls for efficient operation.
• Participate in after-hours roster for repairs/maintenance.
• Review work orders on site for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Prepare weekly paperwork: signed work orders, PO's and risk assessments.

Job description

Maintenance HVAC & Refrigeration Technician

The HVAC Technician is responsible for undertaking preventative, reactive, and planned maintenance and repair services on heating, cooling, ventilation and refrigeration systems at client sites of Modus Projects, in order to meet the specified targets.

Key responsibilities

Maintenance work on generators, switchboards & air-conditioning systems, such as Chillers, AHUs, CRAC Units, and FCUs

Assemble, install, test, and maintain heating, cooling and refrigeration equipment, using hand tools and power tools

Diagnose electrical and mechanical defects and malfunctions

Undertake equipment inspections as part of preventative maintenance job plan

Inspect and maintain refrigerators and chilled water supply systems as required

Ventilate equipment and controls making sure they operate efficiently and continuously

Participate in an afterhours roster and undertake after-hours repair/maintenance works when necessary

Assess all work orders after visiting site, liaise with coordinators if the work can be completed differently to result in a more efficient and cost-effective process

Perform building inspections and provide subsequent reports

Provide completed paperwork weekly, including signed work orders, purchase orders and risk assessments, meeting company deadlines and policies/procedures

About you

Relevant technical qualifications in Refrigeration Mechanical HVAC trade

Drivers Licence

Police Check

First Aid Certificate

Elevated Work Platform (Under 11m)

Construction Induction Card (White Card)

Minimum 3 – 5 years' experience in HVAC & Refrigeration mechanical work on small and large scale commercial and retail facilities

Demonstrated ability to prioritise and work to a defined schedule within tight deadlines

Exposure to larger systems & critical environments with chillers is highly desirable
