Job summary

Aveo's Cleveland Gardens Retirement Living in Queensland is seeking a Maintenance Gardener to help keep homes and shared spaces safe, functional and well presented for residents.

You will perform repairs, painting, plumbing tasks, light fittings, and preventative maintenance, while engaging positively with residents and working with a supportive team.

This permanent full-time role runs Monday to Friday, 7am to 3pm, with opportunities to contribute to a warm, inclusive community.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance or handyperson tasks.
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of maintenance cycles and assets lifespan.
• Clear, resident-friendly communication.
• Valid driver's licence required.
• Minimum of two COVID-19 vaccinations.

Responsibilities

• Completing general repairs and handyperson tasks such as painting, hanging pictures, and light replacements.
• Perform small plumbing maintenance, e.g., replacing taps and washers.
• Support upkeep of external assets such as lighting and sprinklers.
• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance across the community.
• Manage community tools and equipment safely and organized.
• Record maintenance activities and updates.
• Be friendly and approachable presence for residents and work with team.

Maintenance Gardener

As a Maintenance Gardener, you will play an important role within the community ensuring homes and shared spaces are safe, functional and well presented. You’ll manage a range of reactive and preventative maintenance tasks, from repairs to general handyperson work, while engaging positively with residents. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with strong domestic maintenance experience, who is friendly, proactive, and passionate about helping others.

This is a permanent full-time position working Monday-Friday 7-3pm

Your Impact

• Completing general repairs and handyperson tasks such as painting, picture hanging and light replacements
• Performing small plumbing maintenance, including replacing taps and washers
• Supporting the upkeep of external assets such as lighting and sprinkler systems
• Carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance across the community
• Managing community tools and equipment to ensure they are safe, organised and fit for purpose
• Recording maintenance activities, notes and job updates
• Being a friendly and approachable presence for residents while working closely with a supportive team

Whatyou'llbring

• Experience in a general maintenance, trade‑based role or hands‑on handyperson tasks
• A proactive, solutions‑focused approach, with the ability to assess issues, troubleshoot and take action
• An understanding of maintenance cycles and the expected lifespan of equipment and village assets
• Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to explain maintenance works in a resident‑friendly way
• A positive, approachable attitude and a strong sense of pride in your work
• A valid driver’s licence (essential)
• Minimum of two (2) COVID-19 vaccinations (required)
