Job summary

Design & Build Recruitment is hiring a Maintenance Fitter for a large, national manufacturing site in Sydney’s Smithfield area. The role focuses on keeping automated production equipment operating efficiently, with a strong emphasis on preventive and breakdown maintenance.

The successful candidate will have hydraulic and pneumatic experience, strong fault-finding skills, and a proactive approach to safety and maintenance.

Maintenance Fitter – Smithfield

$50–$55/hr + Overtime | Day Shift | Permanent Position

As a Maintenance Fitter, you will be responsible for keeping the manufacturing operation running smoothly and efficiently.

• As a Maintenance Fitter you'll carry out preventative and breakdown maintenance across automated production equipment
• This Maintenance Fitter will carry out mechanical fault finding and repairs
• The Maintenance Fitter will have Hydraulic & Pneumatic experience
• The Maintenance Fitter will be servicing and maintaining plant, machinery and production equipment
• As the Maintenance Fitter you'll be responding to breakdowns and minimising production downtime
• This Maintenance Fitter will identify potential equipment issues before they become major problems
• The Maintenance Fitter will support with continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
• This Maintenance Fitter will work closely with production and maintenance teams

You’ll ideally have:

• Trade qualifications as a Maintenance Fitter / Fitter & Turner
• Previous experience in manufacturing environments
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
• Experience working with automated machinery
• A proactive approach to preventative maintenance
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A strong commitment to workplace safety
