Job summary

Workhorse Staffing is seeking an experienced Afternoon Shift Maintenance Fitter in Sydney. You’ll join a busy maintenance team to ensure plant and equipment operate safely, reliably and efficiently on an ongoing afternoon shift.

Key duties include preventative and corrective maintenance, fault diagnosis, and servicing conveyors and rotating equipment. A trade qualification, Heights and EWP licences, and a strong safety mindset are required.

Qualifications

• Australian-recognised mechanical fitting or plant mechanic trade qualification.
• Experience maintaining conveyors, bearings and rotating equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and breakdown experience.
• Working at Heights certification.
• Current EWP licence.
• Current driver's licence and reliable transport.
• Own tools.
• Full Australian work rights.
• Strong safety awareness and attention to detail.
• Proactive maintenance teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Respond to breakdowns and diagnose mechanical faults.
• Maintain conveyors, bearings, rollers, gearboxes and other rotating equipment.
• Bearings installation, replacement and maintenance.
• Conduct routine plant inspections and identify worn or damaged components.
• Mechanical fault finding and repairs to minimise downtime.
• Complete adjustments and improvements to plant and equipment.
• Collaborate with other trades to repair, fabricate and modify components.
• Record faults and maintenance activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and plant reliability initiatives.
• Maintain high safety and workmanship standards.

The Role

Working as part of an experienced maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring plant and equipment continues to operate safely, reliably and efficiently.

Your duties will include:

• Completing scheduled preventative and corrective maintenance
• Responding to breakdowns and diagnosing mechanical faults
• Maintaining conveyors, bearings, rollers, gearboxes, drive systems and other rotating equipment
• Bearing installation, replacement and maintenance
• Conducting routine plant inspections and identifying worn or damaged components
• Mechanical fault finding and completing repairs to minimise downtime
• Completing adjustments, modifications and improvements to plant and equipment
• Working alongside other trades to repair, fabricate and modify components
• Recording faults and completed maintenance activities
• Contributing to continuous improvement and plant reliability initiatives
• Maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship

About You

• Australian-recognised Mechanical Fitting, Plant Mechanic or equivalent trade qualification
• Previous maintenance experience within a heavy industrial, manufacturing, processing, production or materials-handling environment
• Experience maintaining conveyors, bearings and rotating equipment
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and breakdown experience
• Confident completing preventative maintenance and plant inspections
• Working at Heights certification
• Current EWP licence
• Current driver's licence and reliable transport
• Own tools
• Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
• Proactive approach and ability to work effectively within a maintenance team
