Job summary

Barrett Burston Malting in Geelong is seeking a full-time Maintenance Fitter to support the safe and reliable operation of our malt plant. This hands-on role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and covers preventative maintenance, repairs, breakdown response and continuous improvement across the site.

The successful candidate will hold a Mechanical Fitter trade qualification, possess a current driver's licence, and bring proven experience in manufacturing maintenance, with strong fault-finding

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter.
• Current driver’s licence.
• Experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Availability to attend after-hours breakdowns and occasional weekend call-outs.
• Forklift, Elevated Work Platform and Confined Space tickets highly regarded.
• Pre-employment medical and criminal history check may be required.

Job description

Barrett Burston Malting, part of Soufflet Malt, the world's largest malting company, is currently seeking a full-time Maintenance Fitter for our Geelong malt plant.

This is a hands-on role supporting the safe and reliable operation of our manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will undertake preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, breakdown response and continuous improvement activities across the site. This position works a Monday to Friday day shift roster, with availability to support occasional after-hours breakdowns and weekend call-outs.

Duties include:

• Mechanical maintenance and repair of plant equipment
• Preventative, routine and breakdown maintenance
• Fault finding and troubleshooting of mechanical systems
• Maintaining and repairing grain handling and processing equipment, including conveyors, pumps, gearboxes and associated plant machinery
• Supporting site continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensuring compliance with safety, food safety and quality requirements

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

• Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter
