Job summary

Barrett Burston Malting in Geelong is seeking a full-time Maintenance Fitter to support the safe and reliable operation of our malt plant. This hands-on role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and covers preventative maintenance, repairs, breakdown response and continuous improvement across the site.

The successful candidate will hold a Mechanical Fitter trade qualification, possess a current driver's licence, and bring proven experience in manufacturing maintenance, with strong fault-finding

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter.
• Current driver’s licence.
• Experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Availability to attend after-hours breakdowns and occasional weekend call-outs.
• Forklift, Elevated Work Platform and Confined Space tickets highly regarded.
• Pre-employment medical and criminal history check may be required.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical maintenance and repair of plant equipment.
• Preventative, routine and breakdown maintenance.
• Fault finding and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
• Maintaining and repairing grain handling and processing equipment, including conveyors, pumps, gearboxes and associated plant machinery.
• Supporting site continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensuring compliance with safety, food safety and quality requirements.
