Job summary

Meyer Food Co. is seeking a Maintenance Electrician to join our close-knit maintenance team.

You will help keep our production, processing and packaging equipment running safely and reliably, across a range of electrical systems, automated equipment and machinery. You’ll troubleshoot problems, improve equipment reliability and contribute to site operating improvements while supporting changeovers and project work.

Qualifications

• Electrical Trade Qualification and NSW Licence are required.
• Experience in industrial maintenance is essential.
• Experience fault finding on production, packaging or processing equipment is valued.
• Strong understanding of PLCs, motors, sensors, drives and automated machinery is expected.
• Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with problem-solving aptitude.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to prioritise maintenance tasks and work independently when needed.

Responsibilities

• Respond to electrical and equipment breakdowns and diagnose faults to restore production.
• Perform preventative and predictive electrical maintenance across equipment.
• Fault find electrical control systems, PLCs, motors, sensors, drives and automation.
• Diagnose and resolve faults across machinery and site infrastructure.
• Collaborate with mechanical trades and production teams to improve reliability.
• Use the CMMS to plan and record maintenance activities.
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, commissioning, and improvements.
• Support with machine changeovers and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to continuous improvement for safer and more efficient operations.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with standards and site requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe workshop and work environment.
• Take on other tasks including mechanical works as needed.

When people hear the name Meyer Food Co, most haven’t heard of us, and that’s fine. We’re not a brand in the spotlight, but we’re behind some of the biggest names in Australia. Our products are used by major retailers, clubs, pubs, national fast-food chains, aged care providers and hospitals across the country.

We specialise in value-added food. Using a unique cooking (Sous Vide) and packaging process, we take raw ingredients and turn them into slow-cooked, nutritious, great-tasting meals. Last year alone, we produced enough meat to feed every person in Australia three times over. Chances are, you’ve eaten our products plenty of times without even realising.

What we need

We’re looking for a Maintenance Electrician to join our close-knit maintenance team and help keep our production, processing and packaging equipment running safely and reliably.

This is a hands-on role working across a broad range of electrical systems, automated equipment and production machinery. No two days are the same, and you’ll have the opportunity to troubleshoot problems, improve equipment reliability and make a genuine impact on how the site operates.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Respond to electrical and equipment breakdowns — fault find, diagnose and repair issues to get production back up and running safely and quickly.
• Carry out preventative and predictive electrical maintenance across production, processing and packaging equipment.
• Fault find electrical control systems, PLC’s, motors, sensors, drives and automated equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical faults across machinery and site infrastructure.
• Work alongside mechanical trades and production teams to identify recurring equipment issues and improve reliability.
• Use our computerised maintenance system to plan, record and track maintenance activities.
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, commissioning and improvement projects.
• Support production teams with machine changeovers and technical troubleshooting.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying safer, smarter and more efficient ways to operate.
• Ensure all electrical work is completed safely and in accordance with relevant standards and site requirements.
• Available for other tasks including mechanical works
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop and work environment.

What You’ll Bring

• A recognised Electrical Trade Qualification and current NSW Electrical Licence.
• Experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing or a similar environment.
• Experience fault finding on production, packaging or processing equipment would be highly regarded.
• A strong understanding of electrical control systems, PLC’s, motors, sensors, drives and automated machinery.
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset — you enjoy finding the cause of a problem, not just fixing the symptom.
• Strong communication skills and a genuine team-first approach.
• The ability to prioritise competing maintenance requirements and work independently when needed.
