Job summary

Warrnambool City Council is seeking a Municipal Maintenance and Construction Worker in a permanent full-time capacity. The role focuses on maintaining roads, footpaths and public assets, operating heavy plant and equipment, and ensuring safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain heavy plant and equipment such as loaders, backhoes, trucks and street cleaning machinery.
• Assist with construction and maintenance of roads, footpaths, drains and other assets.
• Perform routine servicing and maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment per SOPs/SWMS.
• Ensure work is safe and efficient by following SOPs and SWMS.
• Maintain designated work areas and complete duties on time.

Job description

Warrnambool City Council is seeking a motivated and reliable Municipal Maintenance and Construction Worker to join our dedicated team in a permanent full-time capacity.

This hands-on role is essential to maintaining the safety, functionality and presentation of our city’s infrastructure. You will be part of a supportive team that takes pride in keeping Warrnambool’s roads, footpaths, and public assets in top condition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain heavy plant and equipment, including (but not limited to) front end loaders, backhoes, trucks, and street cleaning machinery.
• Assist with the construction and maintenance of roads, footpaths, drains, and other Council assets.
• Perform routine servicing and maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment in accordance with Council safety procedures.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and efficiently by adhering to Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
• Maintain designated work areas to the required standard, ensuring the timely completion of all assigned duties.

• Experience operating a range of heavy plant and equipment.
