Job summary

WASA is seeking a Machine Operative in Albury to work across designated production areas. The role requires understanding of manufacturing processes, safety requirements, material identification, and quality standards.

The successful candidate will identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and support site emergency response while operating equipment with minimal supervision. You will help achieve safety, production, and efficiency goals and assist in training less experienced operators.

Qualifications

Job description

The Machine Operative is an experienced production employee who works independently across assigned operational areas. The role requires a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes, safety requirements, material identification, and quality standards. Competent Operators are expected to identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments independently, and contribute to site emergency response functions where required. They operate equipment with minimal supervision and provide support in achieving operational, safety, and production objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform operational tasks independently within designated work areas
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of assigned production processes and procedures
• Identify hazards and conduct risk assessments independently
• Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements
• Participate in emergency response or other designated site support functions
• Complete production records and documentation accurately
• Ensure correct material identification, traceability, and handling
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency
• Assist in training and guiding less experienced operators when required
• Work independently across assigned operational areas including materials handling, saws, CNC, forge, heat treatment, despatch, and technical services

About you

• Secondary school education or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Competency in assigned operational areas
• Proven ability to work independently and safely
• Forklift training/certification
• Overhead crane certification and experience
• Hazard identification and risk assessment capabilityAbility to interpret work instructions and process requirements
• Material identification and traceability knowledge
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
