Job summary

Signet is a leading packaging company based in Brisbane, Australia, seeking a Machine Operator to join its plastics production team in Wakerley. You will operate modern extrusion, conversion and recycling machinery, help produce plastic bags and stretch film, and perform basic machine maintenance.

We offer on-the-job training, support from experienced operators, a clear development pathway, and opportunities to complete formal qualifications.

Qualifications

  • No previous plastics experience required; eagerness to learn.
  • Willingness to learn machine operation and safety practices.
  • Ability to follow procedures and complete documentation accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Operate modern plastics extrusion, conversion and recycling machinery.
  • Manufacture finished goods including plastic bags and stretch film.
  • Carry out basic maintenance on machines.
  • Complete process control documentation accurately.

About the Role

You will be involved in all aspects of the Plastics production processes, including:

  • Operating modern automated plastics extrusion, conversion and recycling machinery
  • Manufacturing finished goods including plastic bags and stretch film
  • Carrying out basic maintenance on machines
  • Completing process control documentation accurately and diligently
Shift Details

This role operates on a rotating 4‑on / 4‑off roster with 12‑hour shifts.

  • Day shift: 5:45 am – 5:45 pm
  • Night shift: 5:45 pm – 5:45 am
About you

We welcome applicants who are new to plastics manufacturing but have an interest in machine operation and a willingness to learn.

The successful applicant will ideally have
  • A can‑do attitude and be a great team player
  • Effective problem‑solving skills
  • A strong mechanical aptitude, safety and quality‑focus
  • A high attention to detail
  • Experience in plastics, blown film or HACCP is welcome but not required
