Job summary

Crusader Hose Pty Ltd in Melbourne is seeking a Logistics Officer to plan and coordinate daily logistics, oversee overseas container shipping and air freighting, and ensure accurate despatch documentation. You will work with freight forwarders, track goods, manage warehouse support and contribute to Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives.

Experience in logistics is ideal; strong communication and reliability are essential.

Responsibilities

• Plan and co-ordinate daily logistics operations including attaching despatch labels, printing despatch notes, and arranging collection of goods by phone or email
• Assist with loading and unloading of trucks using forklift when required
• Plan and co-ordinate weekly overseas container shipping by filling out SLI (Shippers Letter of Instructions) and export documentation. Ensuring paperwork is filled in and correct for each shipment.
• Plan and co-ordinate air freighting as required, including filling out necessary documentation and arranging collection of goods
• Get quotes for freight based on weight and dimensions as required by sales or operations and arrange local pick-ups and deliveries as required
• Update goods tracking, confirm status as required by sales team or customer, and liaise with transport companies to manage delays
• Build and maintain strong relationships with freight forwarders and collaborate to develop solutions that enhance supply chain efficiency
• Prepare and present reports on logistics activities, including monitor and control freight budgets and management of margins. Ensure adherence to company policies, industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Assist warehouse supervisor to keep goods packed away in allocated areas and support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives
• Support Purchasing Officer with purchasing of goods, particularly packaging materiels and administrative functions as required
• Assist with loading/unloading trucks for despatch or inwards goods using forklift and checking goods received match the purchase orders

About the role

The Logistics Officer plans and coordinates daily logistics operations, weekly overseas container shipping, and air freighting as required. This role is the last supply step from factory to customer, involving coordination with freight forwarders, preparation of shipping documentation, goods tracking, and warehouse support.

Forklifting is not a regular part of the role. However, it is an essential part of warehousing as goods are relatively heavy. Willingness to operate is essential and training will be provided if required.
