Job summary

Progress Rail Australia, a Caterpillar company, is seeking a Locomotive Maintainer (Mechanical) at our Cardiff facility to maintain, support warranties, modify, and provide technical assistance on locomotives. The role operates on a four-day work week and offers career progression opportunities. Ideal candidates have locomotive maintenance experience, fault-finding skills, and the ability to read technical drawings. PPE and training are provided.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret technical drawings.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
• High-level problem solving abilities and teamwork.
• Willingness to further knowledge through training.
• Knowledge and understanding of diesel/electric locomotive engines is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Read, comprehend and apply technical drawings.
• Undertake preventative maintenance and/or repairs to locomotives and related equipment.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on locomotives and equipment.
• Provide recommendations to management on methods to improve operations.
• Fault find and troubleshoot locomotive systems.
• Work unsupervised and as part of a hands-on team.
