Pacific National in Melbourne is seeking a Mainline Locomotive Driver to join our intermodal team at the Melbourne Freight Terminal. You will operate locomotives safely and to schedule, delivering freight across our network.

Reporting to the Supervisor, you’ll liaise with Train Control, perform system checks and basic servicing, and maintain a strong safety record while working a 24/7 roster with flexibility.

Qualifications

• Accredited and fully qualified Locomotive Driver.
• Proven locomotive driving experience.
• High regard for safety and compliance.
• Positive, team-focused attitude with ability to work autonomously.
• Basic computer literacy and local regulatory knowledge.

Responsabilités

• Operate Pacific National locomotives in compliance with safe working regulations and driver accreditation requirements.
• Liaise with Train Control to ensure efficient train operations and schedule adherence.
• Prepare locomotives, including system checks and compliance documentation.
• Perform minor maintenance and first-level servicing activities.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to meet operational needs.

An opportunity has presented itself for a Qualified Locomotive Driver to join the team at our intermodal team based at our Melbourne Freight Terminal.

What You’ll Do

As a Mainline Locomotive Driver, you’ll play a key role in delivering freight safely and on time.

Reporting to the Supervisor, you will:

• Operate Pacific National locomotives in compliance with safe working regulations and driver accreditation requirements.
• Liaise with Train Control to ensure efficient train operations and schedule adherence.
• Prepare and provision locomotives, including system checks and compliance documentation.
• Perform minor maintenance and first-level servicing activities.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to meet operational needs.

What You’ll Bring

• Accredited and fully qualified Locomotive Driver (please attach your Certificate IV in Train Driving during the application process).
• Proven locomotive driving experience.
• High regard for safety and compliance.
• Positive, team-focused attitude with ability to work autonomously.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Current full motor vehicle licence.
• Flexibility to work a 24/7 roster, including local and barracks work.
