Job summary

Pacific National in Sarina, QLD invites applications for a Driver Trainer. This permanent full-time role leads training, develops others and ensures safe operations on a 6 days on / 5 days off roster.

Reporting to the Superintendent, you will deliver hands-on and classroom training, assess competency, and partner with supervisors to build capability and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mainline or Mentor Driver (accredited).
• Strong track record of safe locomotive operations.
• Current Cert IV in Train Driving (upload during application).
• Cert IV in Training & Assessment (TAE).
• Commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
• Ability to coach, assess and mentor others effectively.
• Intermediate computer skills with MS Office and training systems.
• Clear and confident communication at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on and classroom training.

An outstanding opportunity has presented itself for a Driver Trainer, with a current Cert IV in Train Driving and a Cert IV in Training & Assessment to lead train crew development, based at our Sarina depot in QLD.

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Superintendent, you will deliver hands-on and classroom training, assess competency, and work closely with supervisors to ensure safe, high-performing operations.

• Plan, prioritise and deliver compliant technical driver training
• Train, assess and mentor train crew to meet Rail Safety Worker competency requirements
• Develop and manage individual training plans aligned to operational needs
• Ensure competencies, assessments, currency and records are completed on time
• Work closely with Operational Leaders and Training Specialists to ensure consistent outcomes
• Promote a strong safety culture and knowledge-sharing environment

What You’ll Bring
