Job summary

Premier Funerals on the Sunshine Coast is looking for an experienced funeral professional to join as a hands-on supervisor, combining funeral directing, staff supervision and business development.

You will work with the Location Manager and management team to maintain high service standards, arrange and conduct funerals, mentor staff, and contribute to ongoing growth of the business in a supportive, team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in the funeral industry.
• Experience in a supervisory or management role.
• Demonstrated experience arranging and conducting funerals.
• Professional, compassionate and respectful approach when dealing with families.

Responsibilities

• Arranging and conducting funerals, providing compassionate and professional support to families
• Mentoring and supervising staff in daily duties
• Coordinate daily operations with Location Manager to maintain high service standards
• Manage operational requirements of Department of Justice contracts, ensuring contractual obligations and service standards are met
• Build relationships within the local community and promote Premier Funerals
• Contribute to business development and improvements across operations
• Participate in a rotating after-hours on-call roster

Job description

Working alongside the Location Manager and wider management team, you'll play an important role in the daily operations and continued development of Premier Funerals. This is a varied position combining funeral arranging and conducting, staff supervision, operational responsibilities and business development.

Key responsibilities

• Arranging and conducting funerals, providing compassionate and professional support to families
• Supporting, mentoring and supervising staff in their daily duties
• Working with the Location Manager to coordinate daily operations and maintain high service standards
• Managing the operational requirements of Department of Justice contracts, ensuring contractual obligations and service standards are met
• Building relationships within the local community and identifying opportunities to promote and grow Premier Funerals
• Contributing to business development and improvements across operations
• Participating in a rotating after-hours on-call roster

About you

• Previous experience working in the funeral industry is essential, minimum 2 years
• Experience in a supervisory or management role
• Demonstrated experience arranging and conducting funerals
• Strong communication and people management skills
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
• The ability to work collaboratively with an existing management team
• A professional, compassionate and respectful approach when dealing with families
• A willingness to participate in after-hours roster
