Qualifications

• Personal lived experience of distress, trauma and/or substance use, with a focus on healing and recovery.
• Ability to purposefully use lived experience to connect with and support others.
• Strong emotional resilience to support people experiencing distress or crisis.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and adapt communication to diverse needs.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one peer support to consumers.
• Facilitate peer-led groups and connect consumers with peer networks.
• Use lived experience to build trust and mutuality.
• Support consumers to recognise strengths and identify meaningful goals.
• Promote hope, resilience, autonomy and self-advocacy.
• Co-create safety with consumers and colleagues while maintaining boundaries.
• Provide culturally appropriate support to people from diverse backgrounds.
