Job summary

Open Minds on the Northern Gold Coast invites applications for a Peer Worker to deliver person-centred care within Medicare Mental Health Services. You will draw on lived experience to provide compassionate, trauma-informed support and help build a holistic view of a consumer’s circumstances.

Requirements include personal lived experience, a current driver licence, Blue Card and National Police Check. A Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (or willingness to obtain) is essential.

Qualifications

• Personal lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery.
• Current Driver Licence.
• Current Blue Card.
• Current National Police Check.
• A Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or similar (or willing to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Connect and build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including First Nations, CALD and LGBTQIA+ individuals, and those at risk of homelessness or suicide.
• Utilise your lived experience to advocate for consumers and the voice of lived experience.
• Participate in community promotional events and foster strong relationships with local service providers to connect consumers with appropriate support and resources.
• Maintain accurate and compliant service records while supporting administrative functions, including the ongoing maintenance of an up-to-date database of community programs and services.
• Implement knowledge of ethical considerations around confidentiality and professional boundaries.
