Job summary

Bayside Council is seeking a Litter & Illegal Dumping Prevention Officer to develop and deliver programs preventing litter and illegal dumping, while improving public amenity across the Bayside local government area.

The role focuses on education, engagement, hotspot management, data analysis and place-based interventions, supporting the Town Centre Uplift Program and environmental initiatives with strong governance and reporting responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Environmental Management, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Community Development, Behavioural Science, Planning, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Demonstrated experience designing and delivering community education, engagement or behaviour change programs.
• Experience managing environmental, waste, litter, illegal dumping or public amenity initiatives.
• Demonstrated project management skills, including planning, implementation, procurement, budgeting and evaluation.
• Experience collecting, analysing and reporting on program performance data.
• Demonstrated experience managing grant-funded projects, including compliance reporting, stakeholder liaison, milestone reporting and funding acquittals.
• Experience liaising with government agencies, project partners and diverse stakeholder groups.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Current Class C Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

• Develop, deliver, maintain and evaluate community education and engagement programs that reduce litter and illegal dumping, improve public amenity, and support positive behaviour change.
• Identify, assess and coordinate litter and illegal dumping hotspot management and amenity improvement initiatives.
• Identify, secure and manage infrastructure, project and grant funding opportunities that support Council's objectives.
• Collect, analyse and interpret data, and prepare reports, presentations and recommendations for stakeholders.
• Manage NSW EPA-funded projects, including milestone reports, funding acquittals and grant compliance requirements.
• Liaise with NSW EPA, project partners and funding bodies to support project delivery and ensure funding compliance.
• Provide regular updates, reports and presentations to project Steering Groups and governance forums.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with Council staff, government agencies, businesses and community groups.
• Support broader Environment & Resilience team in achieving strategic objectives.
• Contribute to budgeting and service delivery improvement.
