Job summary

Techionics is seeking a Server Management Engineer to deploy, monitor and secure Linux servers across global PoPs from Sydney or Melbourne. You will handle incident response on a 24/7 on-call rotation and manage caching, load balancing, traffic routing, and security hardening.

Qualifications

• 2+ years Linux server administration (Ubuntu/Debian/CentOS).
• Hands-on with Nginx or similar web servers and reverse proxies.
• Strong networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS.
• Experience with monitoring tools: Zabbix/Prometheus/Grafana.
• Scripting in Bash or Python.
• Good communication and teamwork.

What you'll do

• Deploy, configure and maintain Linux servers across our global PoPs
• Monitor server health, performance and uptime, and respond to incidents on a 24/7 on-call rotation
• Manage caching, load balancing and traffic routing for high-volume content delivery
• Implement and maintain DDoS protection, firewalls and security hardening

What we're looking for

• 2+ years of experience in Linux server administration (Ubuntu, Debian or CentOS)
• Hands-on experience with Nginx or other web servers and reverse proxies
• Solid understanding of networking: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana or similar
• Scripting skills in Bash or Python
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure
• Good communication skills and a team-player attitude

Nice to have

• Experience with CDNs, video streaming (HLS/m3u8) or high-traffic infrastructure
• Knowledge of DDoS mitigation and network security
• Experience with Docker, Ansible or other automation tools
• Experience with bare-metal or dedicated servers and NVMe storage
• Relevant certifications (RHCSA, LPIC, CCNA or similar)
