Job summary

Western Power is offering a four-year Lineworker Apprenticeship in Narrogin & Pinjarra, WA. You will gain hands-on experience while completing a Nationally recognised Certificate III in ESI – Distribution Overhead.

You’ll learn from qualified tradespeople, rotate across locations, and receive formal training. The program prioritises safety, development, and long-term career opportunities in Western Australia’s energy network.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old.
• Must have a C class driver’s license.
• Complete Year 10 with English and Maths where required.
• Be physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment.
• Willing to undergo pre-employment medical assessment.
• Be willing to obtain high-risk licenses.
• Be willing to work a 75-hour fortnight and rostered days off.

Responsibilities

• Learn installation, maintenance and inspection of poles, structures and hardware.
• Work with tradespeople to gain hands-on skills in overhead distribution lines.
• Participate in four-year apprenticeship program with on-the-job training and formal technical training.
• Develop skills through mentoring and structured development programs.
• Adhere to safety procedures and contribute to a safe work site.

We’re currently seeking Lineworker Apprenticesfor Narrogin & Pinjarra.

What Does a Lineworker Apprentice Do?

As a Lineworker Apprentice, you will work towards obtaining a Nationally recognised Certificate III in ESI – Distribution Overhead (UET30621).

Alongside experienced tradespeople while developing the technical knowledge and practical skillsrequiredto become a qualified tradesperson:

Gain knowledge in areas such as installation, maintenance and inspection of poles, structures and associated hardware

Nominal term for this qualification is 48 months

What makes me a suitable candidate for Western Power apprenticeships?

• Must be 18 years or older to apply for these positions
• Have obtained a “C” class drivers license
• Have completed minimum of Year 10 secondary education with English and Mathematics skills (depending on your apprenticeship)
• Be physically fit and carry the ability to lift heavy equipment
• Be willing to complete a pre-employment medical assessment
• Be willing to/have obtained a range of high-risk licensing
• Be willing to work shift consisting of a 75-hour fortnight (overtime may be applicable, roster days off applicable)
• Be willing to work and travel in remote locations pending on your work rotations, including travelling to attend TAFE and external training courses
• The ability to interpret complex instructions, designs and diagrams
• The ability to operate large equipment such as elevated work platforms and hydraulic drills
