Job summary

Superior Formulations is seeking a Day Shift Line Setter / Machine Operator to set up, run, and maintain production lines in a regulated nutraceuticals facility in Melbourne. You will diagnose faults, perform repairs, and ensure lines run efficiently while meeting quality standards.

The role requires hands-on mechanical skills, adherence to GMP/HACCP, and the ability to follow SOPs and batch records with accuracy.

Qualifications

• High mechanical aptitude and hands-on ability to fix and adjust production machinery.

Job description

As a Day Shift Line Setter / Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, changing over, operating, and maintaining production lines and machinery in line with job sheets, SOPs, and GMP requirements. This is a hands‑on technical role that plays a critical part in keeping our lines running efficiently and ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and consistency. Reporting to the Production Manager and working closely with the day shift team, you will be the first point of call for machinery issues on shift — diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and minimising downtime while maintaining strict compliance throughout the production process.

Key responsibilities

Prepare plant, equipment, and work areas in accordance with GMP, SOPs, and job-specific documentation.

Set up, adjust, and change over production lines and machinery for each run as per job sheets and batch records.

Operate production machinery safely and efficiently to meet output, quality, and schedule targets.

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and pneumatic faults on production equipment, escalating electrical issues to licensed trades.

Carry out repairs and adjustments to machinery to minimise downtime and return lines to full production quickly.

Perform preventative and routine maintenance in line with maintenance schedules and SOPs.

Conduct in-process checks to ensure product and packaging meet specification.

Ensure all materials used are QC approved prior to production.

Record machine faults, repairs, and maintenance activities, and complete all required documentation, data entry, and sign-offs accurately and on time.

Comply with all WHS, HACCP, GMP, and company quality standards.

About you

Proven experience as a line setter, machine operator, or similar role within food production (pharmaceutical or supplement manufacturing also highly regarded).

A high level of mechanical aptitude, with hands‑on experience fixing and adjusting production machinery.

Demonstrated ability to diagnose machinery issues and resolve faults quickly to minimise downtime.

High awareness of hygiene, safety, GMP, and HACCP requirements.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow SOPs, job sheets, and setup specifications exactly.

Ability to work independently, under pressure, and manage tasks responsibly.

Good mathematical ability, literacy skills, and clear written and verbal communication, with a positive, reliable, and can‑do attitude.

Physical ability to lift up to 25kg regularly.

Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency (mandatory).
