Job summary

Qualifications

• Highly developed organisation and information technology skills including a Library Management System (LMS) and ClickView.
• High level written and verbal communication skills and high-level interpersonal skills including the capacity to develop constructive relationships with students, parents, colleagues and members of the broader community.
• A clear capacity to develop a working knowledge of children’s and young adult literature and secondary school curriculum especially the Victorian Essential Learning Standards, Australian Curriculum and the VCE Study Designs.
• Prior experience in or capacity to deliver student and youth library services.
• Capacity to actively contribute to the development of the school’s educational program and a broad range of activities as a member of the staff team.
• Demonstrated capacity to reflect upon and improve their professional practice with a commitment to ongoing professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide information and wider reading services to the students and staff of the school.
• Manage acquisition and cataloguing of Library resources.
• Supervise audiovisual equipment and services.
• Plan and conduct Library and research skills tutorials for students at all levels.
• Advise teaching staff on relevant resources to support the teaching of the curriculum.
• Assist with the supervision of students in various situations as appropriate.
• Manage the school’s archives.
• Manage LMS (library Management System) Destiny including cataloguing, maintaining resources records (equipment register), maintaining student and staff records, overdue notices
• Assist with management of electronic and web-based resources, including Clickview.
• Support implementation of the library programs and projects.
• Maintain and create displays and signage
• Other duties as assigned by the principal.
