As Legal Counsel, you'll provide practical and commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of regulatory, governance and commercial matters. Working closely with senior leaders and stakeholders across the business, you will help manage legal and regulatory risk, support strategic initiatives and contribute to the delivery of positive business outcomes.

This role offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of work across financial services regulation, commercial contracting, privacy, data governance and incident management, making it an excellent opportunity for a legal professional looking to broaden their in-house experience in a highly regulated environment.

You'll have the opportunity to work closely with senior leaders across the business, gain broad in-house exposure and make a meaningful contribution to Adica's legal and governance framework.

How You'll Make an Impact

Provide practical legal advice and end-to-end support to business units and senior leaders across financial services regulation, commercial contracting, privacy, data governance and incident management matters.

Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, supplier agreements and other legal documentation.

Partner with stakeholders across the business to identify, assess and manage legal and regulatory risks.

Liaise with external legal counsel, auditors and regulatory bodies, including APRA, ASIC, AFCA and OAIC.

Prepare legal correspondence, submissions, reports and supporting documentation.

Support legal projects and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance legal processes, workflow efficiency and knowledge management.

Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive and privileged information.

Collaborate with the broader Risk and Governance team and support additional projects and initiatives as required

Your Skills, Experience & Qualifications

A Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent qualification) and admission to practice in Australia.

Approximately 3-5 years' post-qualification experience gained within a law firm and/or in-house environment. With exposure to financial services law and general corporate/commercial law, including the Corporations Act, Australian Consumer Law and relevant insurance legislation.

The ability to provide technically sound legal advice while translating complex legal issues into practical, commercial and risk-based solutions.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of an organisation.

A proactive and solutions-focused approach, supported by strong attention to detail and sound judgement.

The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively, including managing relationships with external law firms and professional advisers.

Demonstrated experience managing competing priorities and stakeholders while delivering high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Experience working within a regulated industry, particularly financial services, insurance or banking, will be highly regarded.
