Job summary

NSW Department of Education seeks a School Learning Support Officer to assist students with diverse learning needs in classrooms and other settings under teacher supervision. You will support welfare, health and wellbeing activities and provide stream-specific assistance (pre‑school, vision, hearing, bilingual).

Role requires strong teamwork and effective communication, with a commitment to inclusive education and collaboration with school staff.

Qualifications

• Working with Children Check Clearance required.
• Willingness to undertake first aid training.
• Administration of medications training provided.
• Health support training provided.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work with students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
• Awareness of the needs of students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support students with identified diverse learning needs in classrooms and other learning environments under teacher supervision.
• Assist with student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required.
• Provide specific support for streams/settings: pre‑school, vision, hearing, and bilingual.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to achieve educational outcomes.
