Job summary

St James Catholic Primary School is seeking a Learning Support Officer for a 0.48 FTE (3 days) term role to assist students with diverse needs and support learning alongside teachers.

Responsibilities include one-to-one and small-group support, ILP adjustments, and documenting student progress, under the Learning Diversity Leader. WWCC and a National Police check are required; passion for inclusive education is essential.

Qualifications

• Commitment to the ethos of Catholic Education.
• Qualifications in education support within a primary school.
• Understanding of behaviours when engaging with children.
• Caring, collaborative and enthusiastic.
• Able to build professional nurturing relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
• Maintain confidentiality and have WWCC and National Police check.

Responsibilities

• Support students in partnership with teachers and the Learning Diversity Leader.
• Provide academic and behavioural support across class, lunch and recess.
• Maintain notes to record student progress as required by school processes.
• Maintain a positive, stimulating learning environment with varied approaches.
• Adopt interventions reflecting current educational pedagogy.
• Carry out other duties as directed by leadership.
